Service Trips provide students with meaningful service opportunities across the United States and around the world. These trips, managed by the Center for Civic Learning & Action (CCLA), focus on specific social issues in communities and volunteers with organizations that address that issue. Past trips include learning about housing in Americus, Georgia; education in Guatemala; and public health in Nashville, Tennessee. Our trips promote effective cross-cultural engagement, work to meet community-defined needs, while integrating educational activities and encouraging participants to consider what it means to truly be a member of a community. Each trip is student-led, providing participants with invaluable leadership experience and personal growth. To make these trips accessible to all students, CCLA subsidizes the cost for each participant as well as providing additional need-based fee reductions. This is thanks to generous donations from alumni and family members. Service Trips are a defining feature of the Dickinson student experience that educate active and engaged citizens, and we strive to make this opportunity available to all.
